So we already know you are into Twilight, but are you also secretly hooked on what Blair Waldorf and the crew are up to? Well, if you find the life of the ultra snooty, spoiled and manipulative teenagers of Gossip Girl highly entertaining (and let’s face it, who in their right mind and with a good sense of fashion doesn’t?), come check out “Mating in Captivity.”


In this superbly written tale by the lovely and very talented Kisvadkondok, Bella Swann (nope, not a typo) and the crew attend the exclusive St. Forks Catholic School in New York City. The foibles of Queen B, the most powerful and popular girl of the school, and her followers are detailed by The Saint Forksian Stalker. Naturally Queen B only surrounds herself with the rich and famous. Her adventures are the stuff of legend; shopping, partying and scheming, sometimes with the help of some pharmaceutical internvention. Add to the mix all of the regular Twilight characters as reincarnations of rich Upper East Side teenagers with a hefty mix of sex & drugs and you have a party!

Of course not all that shines is golden in this story. While on the surface Bella Swann seems the epitome of beauty and style, we know she’s far from it. Neither is dear Eddie for that matter as he jumps from bed to bed, often highly intoxicated and always with a swagger in his step. Will they be able to love each other in all their flawed glory while wading through the never ending intrigues created by high school politics?

All I can say is Kisvadkonkok has created multidimensional, flawed characters that never seem staged while entertaining us. Please go check out her story ASAP and leave her some love!

As we all know, real life is complicated; affairs of the heart are sometimes even more complicated and relationships can be messy. In Tangled Up In Blue, Bella is married to Jacob and has two kids with him when she meets Edward. And Edward? Let's just say - he isn't really 'available' either. Though Bella and Jacob's marriage isn't an entirely unhappy one, the spark between them has died.

As Bella is struggling to find something meaningful to do other than tending to the kids, she accidentally stumbles upon an online ad for a Writer's Conference in Northern California. On impulse she enrolls in the conference, and as luck will have it, Edward is one of the writers that teaches a class at the conference. Sparks fly of course and both acknowledge their connection. But will they give in and follow their heart . . . or do they both have too much to loose?

So, what’s sexier than a muscular Edward in tight black swim jammers stretching beside the pool? Wait. What was the question?

Interval training takes the love story of Edward and Bella, and moves it poolside. However this is not simply a Twilight rewrite making all of the vampires swimmers. The author takes Bella and makes her into a smart, goal-oriented young woman who knows exactly what she wants and works for it with everything she has. And no, Edward isn’t the only thing that she wants. Of course, she does want Edward, but she understands that he is not the be all and end all of her life. She wants to be a writer; swimming is the means to that end because it will get her the scholarship she needs to go to a top flight school.

I love this incarnation of Bella and Edward. They retain the loveable canon qualities that drew us to the story in the first place, but swimom7 makes them into real people with goals, flaws, and a love story all their own. Edward has his hang-ups. Namely, he thinks Bella should swim for the Olympics. He forgets at first that Bella has a say in this goal, but is able to see past his own desires to what Bella is really after: writing and him.

This is a beautiful story, unique in its setting and character portrayals. I guarantee that you will enjoy this love story. Go. Read it. You won’t be disappointed.

Dying by Degrees by Reamhar (AU/New Moon)

Ever wonder what might have happened if little, fragile Bella had had more guts? What if she wasn’t quite so easily pacified upon returning from Volterra from her epic trip to save dear Edward from himself? What if she didn’t give in so easily into Eddie’s sparkly charms, but instead confronted him about his blatant self-hate and his unwillingness to change her?

Well, if you were wondering all of the above and New Moon left you slightly dissatisfied with the route Bella chose, then Dying by Degrees is your story.


Reamhar, the author of this beautifully written story, has taken it upon herself to come up with a new ending to SM’s New Moon. After Bella and Edward return from Italy, Bella is faced with a multitude of issues. Charlie is upset at her for leaving without informing him where she was headed and Jake refuses to talk to her. But those are the small, everyday problems Bella faces. The biggest problem she has to confront is how to fix her relationship with Edward. While she’s still in love with him, she’s also angry. She’s livid that he lied to her, mad that his absence came at the cost of almost losing her mental health, and she’s irritated that he’s still unwilling to change her so she may become his equal.


The story follows Bella as she works out the conflict, pain and damage Edward caused with his departure in order to eventually build a new relationship with him. The story has seventeen chapters up so far and let’s just say: Edward and Bella still have some issues to resolve.

Victoria, James, and Aro all have their moments as Twi-archvillains. Moments of wimpitude in the extreme, that is. Enter Chicory to the badass-ness rescue, writing about the one Twi-villain who seems to be built of stronger stuff. A vampire so scary that Stephanie kept her shut up in flashbacks.

Fear of Fire is a pre-Twilight take on the time Maria visited the Cullens in Calgary. Cryptically referred to as 'eventful' in Midnight Sun, the visit is usually represented in 'fic as a one-shot-worthy killing spree. Chicory gives the event a much more interesting, elaborate treatment, developing Maria's character to a depth I haven't seen before. An author's note relishes the fun of writing a character who has no morals, who kidnaps Alice for her own dark purposes and hasn't even bothered to learn her current boy toy's name. He is her second in command, like Jasper was; we, like Maria, know him only as Second.

Second is darker and livelier than Jasper, at peace with his vampiric nature if not with his current livelihood. He is in love with Maria, who doesn't realize that she has met her match in him, though she seethes over the attention he appears to be showing Alice. That attention, in case you're wondering, is part of Second's private scheme, a scheme that is only beginning to unfold as the kidnappers run from their pursuers. Second would rather Maria be ruined than have her apparent indifference to his charms go unpunished.

Alice is torn between her sympathy for Second and her fear that Second will betray her if it suits him. She is occasionally beset by visions of what will happen to Jasper if she dies. Their concern and longing for one another are poignantly written, Jasper being a delicious fountain of angst, as always. He is going crazy with guilt at the prospect of losing Alice to a demon from his past, with definite New-Moon-Edward-esque qualms about dragging a wife into his screwed-up existence. In the Twilight Saga, there is a vampire who lurks in the corners. He is always there, just behind Alice, calming a room with his very presence. But the only time he’s given center stage is when someone needs to lose control. Perhaps when a clumsy someone gets a paper cut.

Of course, I’m talking about Jasper. He was woefully neglected in the Saga, reduced to stilted lines and dark, longing stares. What a back story he came with! Changed during the Civil War, Jasper Whitlock was one of the youngest soldiers to make Major. Do you want to know more about Major Whitlock? Join BMSequestrian as she journeys back in time to tell us about the last human days Major Jasper Whitlock and the newborn days he experiences with a vampire named Maria.

If you were wondering what the title refers to, “accouterments” are all of the tools that an officer has at his disposal. The author gives us the story behind how Jasper built up his accouterments for becoming the vampire we meet in the Saga. We learn of his last days defending the town of Galveston and the way that he handled his men. And, when it comes time for Maria to enter the picture, don’t expect the watered down version that Jasper fed to Bella. No, this will be Jasper’s own words and the raw emotions that he felt as he was transformed from Army officer into the general of an army of newborns.

This story is well written, painstakingly researched, and in canon. The author has made it a point to retain the character and maintain the canon timeline. Her Jasper jumps off the page and you get a clearer picture of the vampire who the Saga relegates to a thirsty wall-flower. Definitely check out this wonderful fic and leave her some love! As the title of this intriguing little tale implies, Bite to Break Skin is a vampire story. What we know for certain after reading the first few chapters is that it's an AU story and that the Cullens are indeed vampires. Most of everything else is yet to be discovered. Although the prologue leads the reader to believe that Edward has been involved in Bella's life since she was born, Bella seems to have lost all memory of that by the time we get the next insights into her life.

When the story starts, 17 year-old Bella Swan is orphaned and living with the Cullens. Why they adopted her and what led them to adopt her remains a mystery even to Bella as she deals with the difficulties of starting over at a new high school. Since she is the only human member of the Cullen family, or so she thinks, she serves as the approachable front for the other humans living in the town of Forks.

While Alice and Edward are part of the Cullen family in this fanfiction as well, they have not been around for extended periods, but seem to be perpetually traveling. Bella is left to wonder why Edward and Alice are always away on trips and she secretly thinks Edward in particular is avoiding her and dislikes her. As Jillian twists this beautifully written angsty story, the reader will discover that Bella may not be human after all and it's still uncertain whether Edward can or will stay away from her. If you are into angsty teen/vampire love stories, this one is definitely a good choice to follow!

Who is the only main character in the saga who isn’t given a past? Alice. With her amazingly upbeat personality, Alice probably makes everyone’s top ten list for fictional characters that we’d most like as a best friend. And yet, the only glimmer that we get into Alice’s past is a dark and threatening hint from James that he is the one who turned her after her parents discarded her in a mental institution. Of all of the characters, Alice deserved a past as she is always giving everyone their future.

Blood-and-chocolate gives Alice her past in her delightful story, What She’s Forgotten. This story is carefully researched and beautifully written. We start seeing Alice through her baby sister’s eyes. Cynthia is two years younger than Alice and dearly loves her older sister. We get to see the circumstances that led this one happy family to suddenly give up their child to the dark world of the institution. We travel with Alice as she meets Eliot, the strange doctor who seems to be her only ray of sunshine within the dark walls of the institution. And we watch as Alice’s character develops from scared and frightened little girl into the woman that we all know and love.

This story is a definite must-read for all of he pre-Twilight fans out there. With the darker themes of the institution as well as some mild language and violence, this story is rated PG-13 on Twilighted. You will not be disappointed!

You know, A Different Forest and Edwardville are totally underrated. You never know how much good stuff you’re missing until you post a rec thread, and someone’s e-mailing you back going, “Hey, I’ve got one!”

Still, though, you don’t really understand what they’re going on about until you have the story in front of you…and then you’re hooked.

For me, all it took was the summary: Bella is a British spy during World War II, acting as a rich man’s fiancé. She falls in love with Edward, but will she choose love over duty?

If that didn’t catch your attention, here’s part of the Prologue:

I arrived at the cathedral. My breath left my body in a whoosh as my eyes darted over the broken glass on the ground, the remains of beautiful stained-glass windows, and piles of rubble. There was a crowd gathering, gasping at what had happened to their beautiful church. I pushed past them, desperate to get inside.

I was held back at the door.

The man was shocked at my crazed wrestle to get past him. "Miss, no one is allowed to enter at this point—"

"I don't care! You don't understand, I have to find—"

I never did tell him who I had to find.

For at that moment, I saw the bodies.

LaSerenade creates an intriguing new Bella that is both unique and at the same time, still realistic. Of course, the idea of Edward sitting at a piano and playing his heart out to another man’s woman is just as intriguing.

I wouldn’t have found this amazing story if it hadn’t been for one of the lovely ladies over at Edwardville. Though I have to admit that my writing has a lot of angst, I don’t usually go for angsty stories myself (hypocritical, no?). Yet, because of the insistence of the recommender, I decided to try out the first chapter.
jadedandboring is an amazing author. From the first paragraph, you find yourself sucked into the story. Bella has just lost her childhood sweetheart to cancer. When she meets Edward, there is an instant connection, but will she be willing to let go and let things happen?

Of course, Edward has his own issues---the most important being that he already has a girlfriend, Rosalie Hale, who isn’t on good terms with Bella.

As a psychology student myself, I have to attest to the way jadedandboring makes each character three-dimensional. Even Rosalie holds the readers’ attention, though it might not be with the same enthrallment you would hold Edward or Bella.

WouldYouLookatThat over on A Different Forest suggested this story at a campfire about small-time fics, so I went over to check it out.

After Renee is believed to have committed suicide under mysterious circumstances, Bella moves to Forks under Charlie’s guardianship. On her first day, she encounters Edward, an intolerable English jerk, and makes the mistake of taking a stand against him.

What our unfortunate heroine doesn’t know about her classmate is that he is a thousand-year-old ancient with a taste for hemoglobin. Will she and Edward be able to fall in love, or will he kill her first?

Be warned: this Edward is not the sweet shiny Volvo owner that tries to abstain from human blood at all costs. He’s seductive, snarky and lethal, but to me that just adds on to his appeal. One of the beautiful things about Fanfiction is being able to find different aspects of a character, and Derdriu oFaolain does this perfectly.

I'm going to start this review with the actual summary from Fan Fiction: "A/U In the spirit of Disney's Freaky Friday, what happens when a mysterious talisman ends up in Jacob's possession? Takes place during Eclipse, just after "Temper." BE"

My beta suggested this story to me and I was very skeptical. Freaky Friday? Twilight? I just don't get it. But I must say, I was hooked after the first paragraph and you will be too. This story totally blows my mind with each new chapter. Not only is the writing fantastic, but the idea behind this story is just so unique and fitting for the story of Twilight. The characters are completely canon, but what happens to them definitely is not. That said, I am a canon fanatic and I can read this story imagining the world that the author has created and picturing exactly what she is describing. her A/U doesn't detract from the story of Twilight; rather, it adds a richness and depth to the relationship of Edward and Jacob that was only glossed over in the Saga. I highly recommend this story to anyone who would like a closer look at the Edward/Jacob relationship. It is a fantastic study in what can happen when you mess with things you don't understand.

This story is set 10 years post-Breaking Dawn and tackles many of the key questions that readers were left pondering when finishing the last book in Stephanie Meyers's series. It addresses Alice's past, the Volturi threat, and the continued relationship of our two favorite vampires, Edward and Bella Cullen. I love this story because EmeraldStar73 manages to show readers that even though vampires do not change physically, they grow emotionally. We see the development of a marital bond in this story that makes the soaring love affair of Edward and Bella that much more amazing. This story is well written, exhaustively researched, and true to the canon characteristics of our beloved characters. What's more, it is completely believable. We see the Cullens in situations that are recognizable to the reader as things they would need to face going into the future: Nessie and Jacob's blossoming relationship, Bella and Edward heading back to school, and the blasted Volturi who always make their presence known somehow. This is a great story that deserves lots of fan love. I'd love it even if it wasn't written by my amazing beta (but that just makes it all the more special to me)! If you love canon continuations of the Saga, check out this story today!

In Midnight Sun, Emmett tells Edward about a woman who smelled as good to him as Bella smells to Edward. He tells Edward about killing her, but we know nothing about this woman other than what her scent was like to Emmett. Leanne Golightly tackles this story in her one-shot, A Hint of Apple. The story tells of an unnamed woman who has fallen victim to a loveless marriage. It describes her last day in vivid detail up until the point where she comes in contact with a very thirsty Emmett.

This story is so amazing because it takes a character who we know absolutely nothing about and gives her a story and life separate from the Saga. If Leanne does not give this character a name, she gives her a beautiful story that brings the reader into her world. There is an attention to detail and character development that is really impressive. If you enjoy learning more about the little details of the Saga, this story is a must read.
